Sarah Varetto
In 1992, Sarah was hired by the Piedmont regional television station GRP (Giornale Radiotelevisivo Piemonte), where she was editor and host of several information shows. This role prepared her for the national program Maastricht-Italia which she would eventually go on to work for in 1998. In 2000, Sarah became editor of Pianeta Economia (a RaiNews24 and International Herald Tribune TV co-production).
In 2002 she became editor in chief of Miaeconomia.it an economics and personal finance information portal, overseeing the website and television show as well as spearheading communication projects for companies and institutions. In December 2002, Sarah hosted Miaeconomia, the television show on La7 airing twice weekly (from Jan. 2003 daily). Together with American journalist Alan Friedman, Sarah went on to write and co-host I Nostri Soldi, a weekly show on Rai2 dedicated to economics.
In 2003, she moved to Sky as creator and host of Sky TG24 Economia and editor-in-chief of the economic editorial staff. On July 4, 2011, Sarah was promoted to Editor-in-chief of Sky Tg24. During her leadership, TG24 became the most-watched all-news channel in Italy. Sarah has received several awards for her journalism, including Premio Casalegno Giovani, Premiolino, Premio Marisa Bellisario. On January 2019, she transitioned to EVP News Project Development, Continental Europe.
On April 28, 2020, she assumed the role of EVP Bigger Picture, Inclusion & Internal Communication of Sky Italia. On September 23, Sarah Varetto was entrusted with the responsibility of corporate communication and institutional communications, publicity/press office on Sky contents and products, taking the role of EVP Communications, Inclusion & Bigger Picture.
