Gian Paolo Manzella
After graduating in Administrative Law at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome, he obtained a master’s degree in International Relations at “Yale University”. He worked for the Italian Commercial Bank, the Competition and Market Authority, the Court of Justice, the Ministry of Economy. He is currently officer on leave from the European Investment Bank.
Member of the Lazio Regional Council from 2013 to 2018, he followed in particular the European themes, creative industries, startups, innovation. Promoter of “Startup, Lazio!”, “Lazio Creativo” and of the “City of Culture of Lazio” award.
From March 2018 to September 2019 he was Councilor for Economic Development of the Lazio Region, with specific skills in the: startups, creative industries, commerce, crafts and innovation sectors.
He is Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Development since September 16, 2019, with responsibility for policies for SMEs, creative industries and Made in Italy, attracting foreign investments and aerospace.
He has published two books: the first dedicated to European regional policy (‘Una politica influente’, il Mulino, 2011) the second dedicated to creativity policies (‘L’Economia Arancio’, Rubbettino, 2017).
